Looking Back at 2020: An Exercise in Finding Balance
What a year to start a business, huh?
We launched this little Scandinavian home goods business in January of 2020. And then life all of a sudden changed pretty drastically for all of us. Every year, our family has a tradition of choosing a word that will drive our coming year. Funny that the word I chose for 2020 was balance, because this has definitely been an exercise in finding balance.
For me, many of the highlights this year have been with Blue House. The opportunity to share the work of some amazing Scandinavian creators, manufacturers and designers. Introducing you to materials and goods that we value for their beauty, durability, and function. To be welcomed (digitally, of course) into the homes and aspirations of new friends, customers, and clients.
This year had many of us redefining our idea of home. The more time we spent there, the more we made time for the projects that we hadn’t completed, the little changes we wanted to make. The special touches that would make it feel like home. It has been a joy to be able to help.
And while building a business is like pushing a boulder up a hill, it turns out I do have more will than hill! Our little team is growing, and together we have dreamed up some exciting plans for Blue House this coming year, from new partners to new directions.
